Bangalore to host seminar on IT enabled services

Email this story to a friend. Commerce Secretary P P Prabhu will inaugurate a seminar on business opportunities in information technology enabled services to be held on July 19 in Bangalore.

Over 300 IT entrepreneurs from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to participate in the seminar sponsored by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council along with the IT secretariat of the government of Karnataka, the Software Technology Park of India and the Consortium of Electronics Industries of Karnataka.

Sunder T Vachani, chairman of ESC said that the seminar would focus on opportunities available to Indian information technology entrepreneurs in the areas of back office operations, medical transcription, cell centres, database service, content development, GSI packages etc.

The market size of these services is estimated to be over $800 billion.

As per the survey done by ESC, the market potential of IT enabled services worldwide is double the size of the software and service market that was estimated at $400 billion in 1998.

Vachani said ''The availability of internationally competitive telecommunications infrastructure in India can assist the information technology enabled services sector to emerge as the fastest growing foreign exchange earner within the next two to three years.''
