VSNL to tie up with Silverline for EDI services

A VSNL statement today said as per the MoU, Silverline would provide customised front-end solutions for VSNL's 'gateway electronic data interchange service' over VSNL's existing infrastructure for EDI services within the country.

Similarly, Silverline will be offering VSNL's EDI solutions to government agencies like ports, customs, excise and industries in areas of automotive and engineering in the initial phase.

By simplifying and streamlining business procedures, EDI can help organisations control costs, increase efficiency and improve customer service levels and may help save money through decreased safety stock inventory levels and diminished administrative requirements.

The use of EDI in an organisation is a process requiring a complete restructuring of business operations to make the information flows paperless and require a process re engineering of the information systems, the VSNL statement added.
