NIIT readies marketing team for Europe

Email this story to a friend. NIIT, the New Delhi headquartered global software, training and educational multimedia major, has announced a strategy to capture significant portions of the European market.

Deployment of a high-powered marketing team with plans to move up the value chain as a leading information technology services provider is a major thrust of the strategy, said Rajendra S Pawar, founder and managing director.

NIIT has bagged orders from British Airways and Metro of Germany and had set up a dedicated software factory in Bombay for developing software for BA, he said.

"As an outcome of the just concluded planning exercise, we decided to capitalise on our expertise in Net-centric computing, enterprise client-server and the Euro opportunity in Europe more aggressively. To tap the huge software opportunity available, we have taken a strategic decision to focus on European markets," he said.

One of the company's five directors, Gopal Chakravarthy, has been posted in Europe to implement the strategy. It is for the first time that a director has been posted abroad.

The marketing team for Europe includes Rahul Nanda, former country director of Lotus in India, Navin Anand, formerly of Tata and IBM and Rajeev Razdan, who was with NIIT Singapore earlier.

B R P Reddy, former chief operating officer of education, IIS Infotech, would also join the team.
