CMC to push Java in Hyderabad

Email this story to a friend. CMC Ltd, together with Sun Corportation, is setting up a Java competency centre in Hyderabad.

The centre, meant to introduce people to Java-based computing and communications, is partly funded by the Department of Electronics with equipment being provided at subsidised rates by Sun Corporation. The National Association of Software and Service Companies has promised to back the new technology.

CMC sources said Java-based network computing would be better suited in India where costly computers were beyond the reach of most people. Java-based computers connecting to other servers for software would half, even quarter, as much.

The Java competency centre also hopes to launch training programmes to train computer personnel in the new technology and take up onshore and offshore projects.
