Rs 2 million Gandhi site being readied

Email this story to a friend. The Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal has taken up a Rs 2 million project to put Gandhi's works, thoughts and photographs on the Internet.

The Web site will be inaugurated on January 30, the 50th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

A BSM release claims that the information on the site runs into about 1,500 pages. However, initially, only 200 pages would be available.

Gandhi's philosophy from the book, The Mind of Mahatma Gandhi, would be published on the Web site. The book covers Gandhi's thoughts in his own words on 96 topics. It includes chapters on non-violence, truth, fearlessness, satyagraha, politics, freedom and democracy, brotherhood, sarvodaya and swadeshi.

Along with the chronology, there will be a list of books on, and by Gandhi.

The interactive site would be regularly updated. The BSM informed that the decision to put information about Gandhi over the Web was taken recently after queries for a Web site were received regularly from all over the world.
