Max touch to offer cell phones on rent

Email this story to a friend. Max Touch, the cellular service provider for Bombay, has launched a rental service for consumers wishing to use a cell phone instead of buying one.

The company has established a helpline for customers so that they can dial for renting a cell phone (91-22-4321111). The service is targeted at business travellers and visitors to Bombay who may need the phone for a limited period and for a specific reason.

Max Touch is also offering subscribers the option of renting a SIM card if they already have a handset. The company in the past has offered cellular rentals for events and exhibitions. It is providing the service along with another company called Club Net - which will ensure that the consumer gets a delivery at home if he calls the helpline.

The rental charge for the handset is around Rs 250. Depending upon the type of the handset, calls are charged at Rs 12 per minute for local or incoming calls; Rs 16 to Rs 66 per minute for calls within the country and Rs 66 to Rs 119 per minute for international calls depending upon the location.

The charges are all inclusive.

Max Touch is also offering a special scheme for its subscriber and that of its sister company Max Page. The company is offering a waiver of rental for one day to Max Touch subscriber if they rent a handset for two days while Max Page customers will be charged only two days' rental every time they rent a handset for three days.

Max Touch recently crossed the 130,000-subscriber mark and has emerged as the largest cellular service provider in the country.
