software in a big way from India and is in talks with a couple of Indian software majors.

The tie-ups may be firmed early next year.

Airbus Industrie has no plans to set up a dedicated centre for development of this software in India, he added.

Rao, however, declined to disclose the identity of these firms. For now, Airbus Industrie gets some of its software requirements in the CAD/CAM area from India.

The training software for Airbus is now being developed at Toulose in France. About $5 million worth of training software is developed by Airbus annually, according to Rao.

Several companies like BAeHAL Software, a joint venture company between British Aerospace and HAL have been undertaking software development for a number of clients in the US and Europe.

Airbus Industrie brings together Europe's four leading aerospace companies - British Aerospace, Aerospatiale, Daimler-Benz Aerospace and CASA of Spain.
