Empty bourse ends NT plans

It was grandly planned to be the first trading system based in Asia to run on Windows NT. Now only if some trading went on there...

Put off by the dearth of investors, Microsoft has reluctantly decided not to develop the system in the Saurashtra-Kutch Stock Exchange which, anyway, is likely to close down in a year if things continue as they are.

Just 15 brokers, out of a possible 108, have moved into the new offices in the modern building worth Rs 80 million. And if something doesn't happen on the slow trading front, the exchange will soon be no more, they fear.

Microsoft has some software running at the exchange but decided that a whole system was not justified.
