EC bans Thakur for 72 hrs, Parvesh for 96 hrs

The Election Commission of India bans BJP minister Anurag Thakur from campaigning for 72 hours and Parvesh Verma for 96 hours. 

Union Minister Anurag Thakur, who was filmed leading chants of, "Desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro s**lon ko (shoot the nation's traitors)" on Monday, has been banned for 72 hours.

BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who said protesters at Shaheen Bagh were capable of raping and killing women, has been banned for 96 hours.

Another BJP leader, Kapil Mishra, was banned earlier for remarks he made about Shaheen Bagh.

Delhi voters head to the polls on February 8 to decide what is largely shaping up to be a two-way contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.

Results will be announced on February 11.
