After Mufti, now Sajjad Lone stakes claim to form govt with support of BJP

Minutes after it was revealed that Mehbooba Mufti had staked claim to form the government in Jammu-Kashmir with the support of Omar Abdullah's National Conference and the Congress, Sajjad Lone said that he too has staked claim to form the government with the help of the BJP.

In a statement on Twitter, he said, "We have sent a letter to His Excellency the Governor staking our claim to form the government. Fax not working. We have whatsapped it to the PA to his excellency."

The state is currently under governor's rule which cannot be extended after it completes its six-month period on 19 December. It is proposed to impose President's rule thereafter but the 87-member assembly is not being dissolved, according to Governor Satyapal Mallik.
