Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy speaks to the Assembly before the trust vote. He is paying his respects to all the luminaries who occupied the seat of the chief minister before him. He then goes on to say why the choice of Ramesh Kumar as the Speaker is the right one.

BJP's Yeddyurappa said the party backed Ramesh Kumar because it wanted him to be elected unanimously. He said the Speaker is an apolitical post and hoped that the Speaker will remain unbiased even though he is Congressman. "We hope we will have a great time in the house," Yeddyurappa said.
