The Congress has rushed senior leaders Ahmed Patel and Kamal Nath to Shillong.
Speaking to ANI, Patel said, "We have a clear majority in Meghalaya. We have a setback in Tripura in Nagaland, we will have to work on that.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh's comments on Congress President Rahul Gandhi, "Absolutely baseless, is it a crime for someone to visit his own grandmother? It has become a profession for him to make unnecessary comments."
Giriraj Singh said Gandhi was a non-serious leader and had abandoned his party after the Congress president had left for Italy to visit his grandmother on Thursday.
On Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's statement on Manik Sarkar, Ahmed said, "He is an honest person. How can they say where does he need to take shelter? What does it mean? Do they want to terrorize him?"
