The 1989 film Piravi is a fictionalised version of Rajan Eachara Warrier's case. A student of the erstwhile Regional Engineering College, Calicut, Rajan went missing during the Emergency. The film is the story of his father's fight for justice, not revenge, from the state. Rajeev Srinivasan tells how he came very close to being another number in the 'disappeareds' during the Emergency.
