Gen Rawat visits J&K, reviews security situation

Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat today visited forward areas in Jammu and Kashmir today and reviewed the security situation along the borderline as well as in the hinterland.

Rawat reviewed the security situation of J&K during his visit to forward areas today, a defence spokesman said.

He was briefed by Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC, White Knight Corps, on the prevailing security situation. Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command accompanied the chief of Army staff during his visit, the official said.

The army chief, during his visit to forward areas, also interacted with soldiers and complemented them for their professionalism, selfless commitment and loyalty. He exhorted the troops to continue to work with zeal and dedication to overcome the challenges posted by weather, enemy and terrorism.

The army Chief commended the synergy between all security agencies and civil administration in Jammu and Kashmir, the official said.

Rawat also visited northern command, he added. -- PTI
