Gary Oldman scores an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance as Churchill in Darkest Hour. Earlier, Oldman won at the SAG awards, making him the odds-on favourite to secure his first Oscar.

Oldmans competitors are Timothe Chalamet (Call me by your Name), Daniel Day Lewis (Phantom Thread), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Denzel Washington (Roman J Israel, Esq)
