More than a month after cyclone Ockhi left behind a trail of destroyed infrastructure and missing fishermen in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep, the search for the missing fishermen is still underway.

While the number of missing fishermen was put at over 400 a fortnight ago, with many of them returning home subsequently, the number has now been revised to 208, and three dead bodies have been identified.

A high-level meeting  under the chairmanship of Tamil Nadu relief commissioner Dr K Satyagopal is being held today evening in Chennai to decide various pending issues like disbursement of the Rs 20 lakh compensation for families of the dead, when to call off the search, and when to declare the missing fishermen as dead.

The decisions will then be forwarded to the state government for necessary approval and action.
