New Delhi is agog with speculation that Arvind Kejriwal will be resigning as the chief minister of Delhi to enter the Rajya Sabha. Kejriwal will vacate the top job for Manish Sisodia, who is now the deputy CM. The CPM and the Congress want Kejriwal in the Rajya Sabha to shore up defences against the BJP.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has spoken to Kejriwal on the matter yesterday.

There are three seats from Delhi to the Rajya Sabha. One seat will go to Sanjay Singh (former Punjab in-charge), but for the other two, there are possibilities like Meera Sanyal (AAP), Gopal Subramanian (Supreme Court advocate) and  Raghuram Rajan (former RBI GOvernor, who is likely to refuse).

Tomorrow, there will be a meeting of the AAP central Committee which will decide the names of the three candidates.

AAP's victory in the 2015 Delhi election guarantees that all the three seats in the upper house that fall vacant in January-end will accrue to the party.
