Maharashtra bandh tomorrow?

Dr BR Ambedkar's grandson and leader of the BBM party had called for a Maharashtra bandh tomorrow.

Protests have rocked Mumbai today as Dalits took to the streets against Monday's violence linked to a Dalit rally near Pune.

Section 144 has been imposed to stop the gathering of more than four people were imposed in parts of the country's financial capital, several schools and colleges were shut, and traffic was hit on Eastern Express Highway near Mumbai. Incidents of stone-pelting were reported from several areas and a protester who was trying to set himself on fire was saved just in time.

The protesters blocked roads in several areas of Mumbai, forced shops to shut down and also attacked a journalist of a television news channel.
In a latest development, the central railway suspended suburban services between Kurla and Vashi on its harbour corridor and is running special services between CSMT-Kurla and Vashi-Panvel section.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a judicial inquiry into Monday's clash, in which a man died.


On Monday, groups of Dalits, who were on way to an event to mark 200 years of the Bhima Koregaon battle were attacked and their vehicles were damaged.
