Earlier, Trump, speaking at the luncheon, said he was honored when he heard the former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State (and former campaign rival) Hillary Clinton were coming, and he encouraged the crowd to give a standing ovation for the Clintons.

"There is nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people," he said.

Contrast that with some of his rhetoric during the campaign.

Back then, Trump repeatedly said Hillary Clinton deserved to be in jail because of her private email server issues. And Trump invited women who had accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault to sit in the audience of one of the presidential debates.
