Jessop owner Pawan Ruia summoned by CID

The CID summoned Jessop owner Pawan Ruia in connection with the alleged theft and arson at the company's factory in Dum Dum, Kolkata while eight more persons have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the incident.

"We have summoned him (Ruia) and asked him to appear before us on October 26. We have some specific questions to ask for which he will be the best person to answer," a senior CID officer told PTI.

The eight persons who have been arrested are, Bishal Jaiswal (27), Sumit Jaiswal (27), Samir Das (20), Babi Mallick (28), Rubel Khan (19), Nur Islam (19), Sanjib Sheikh (19) and Mithu Sheikh (24). A mini truck and three hexode blades were seized from them, the officer said.

Five persons were arrested last week for their link to the incident. Names of all these eight persons, arrested today, surfaced after questioning the five accused we had arrested earlier, the CID officer said.

A Special Investigating Team (SIT) was formed by the CID to probe the theft at the factory premises.
