Mintoo planned to escape to Goa from Mumbai: Police

Arvind Deep, Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, briefs media on arrest of Khalistan terrorist Harminder Singh Mintoo:

* Special cell arrested Harminder Singh Mintoo near Nizamuddin parking lot yesterday.

* Harminder Mintoo had trimmed his beard, it was difficult to identity him; his plan was to escape from Goa via Mumbai.

* DCP is monitoring situation; interrogation of Harminder Mintoo is underway, were conducting further probe based on leads given by him.

* Pistol and six cartridges recovered from Mintoo. A case has been registered under relevant sections.

* We were constantly in touch with Punjab, Haryana, UP police after Nabha jailbreak. Placed teams at strategic locations, checked guesthouses, hotels.

* Investigation is on the preliminary stage; we are interrogating Harminder Mintoo, he was carrying some money with him.

* Mintoo's escape was planned. He was part of the module of the escapees.
