England thrash New Zealand to sail into WT20 final

Riding on opener Jason Roy's quickfire 78 runs off only 44 balls, England thrashed New Zealand by seven wickets in the first semi-final of 2016 World T20 at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. Jason Roy played a starring role with a 44-ball 78, and was named the player of the match.

Joe Root (28 not out) and Jos Buttler (32 not out) then ensured England made it past the line without much ado with an uneaten 49-run stand (off 29 balls) for the fourth wicket.England, champions in 2010, will face either hosts India or 2012 winners West Indies in the final at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

India and West Indies play in the second semi-final at the Wankhede tomorrow.
