The Patiala House court on Friday granted a six-month bail to Jawaharlal Nehru University students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya who have been accused of raising anti-national slogans in the varsity campus on February 9.

Both students have to furnish bail bond of Rs 25000 each and one surety of same amount.

The Delhi Police had opposed Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattarcharya's bail plea.

During the hearing on Thursday, the Delhi Police counsel opposed the bail plea of the duo and stated that they did not only depend on the video footage but also relied on the statements of 10 independent witness against both of them.

However, the counsel of the two JNU students maintained the Delhi Government's report suggested that the video was doctored and that citizens have the right to criticise the government and the same can't be termed as sedition.
