A new, revolutionary breast cancer therapy has shown "staggering' results in trials, destroying the deadly tumours in just 11 days, reports the Daily Telegraph, London.

Experts have said this is the first time that a drug for the disease has shown such a response, and termed the findings as "astonishing', the newspaper reports, and that the trial results could revolutionise the future treatment of other types of the deadly disease as well.

The therapy entirely destroyed tumours as large as 3 cm.

The newspaper quotes lead researcher, Professor Nigel Bundred, professor of surgical oncology at the University of Manchester, as saying: 'For solid tumours to disappear in 11 days is unheard of. These are mind-boggling results.'

Making it even better, the report says the combined drug therapy would cost around 1,500 (around Rs 145,000) for treatment, and in future lead to thousands of women being spared the agonising rounds of chemotherapy that follow surgery.
