Need 4 weeks to pay Rs 5 crore fine: AOL tells NGT

The Art of Living Foundation has moved an application in the NGT, saying it needs four weeks time to deposit Rs 5 cr fine and to comply with all tribunal directions.

It said that it is a charitable organisation and it is difficult to generate Rs 5 crore on a short notice. It added that the fine should be taken as restoration amount for biodiversity park, and not as penalty.

Yesterday, the NGT had made it clear to the AOL which is organising the World Culture Festival that it has time till Friday to pay the fine and law will take its own course if it fails to do so.
