No updates yet on the San Diego shootings. But to bring you up to speed, two San Diego police officers were shot late Thursday, authorities said. Their conditions are currently unknown. Police said there is an active search ongoing for the suspect or suspects.

Police urged residents to stay inside their homes as operations continued in San Diego late on Thursday night.

A spokesperson announced the double shooting shortly after 11pm local time on Twitter, adding: Their condition is unknown, keep them in your prayers.

The circumstances of the incident in the Southcrest area were unclear.

Eight police officers were murdered in two separate attacks in Dallas and Baton Rouge earlier this month, although the majority of police shootings in the US occur during gun battles with armed suspects.
