Hillary Clinton names Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her VP pick

Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia is Hillary Clinton's pick to be her running mate on the Democratic Party's ticket for the White House, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee announced on Twitter.

Kaine, a former governor, has "devoted his life to fighting for others," Clinton's announcement said.

The 58-year-old Kaine had been the focus of increasing speculation in recent days, as Clinton insiders said that former US President Bill Clinton, the presumptive nominee's husband, was backing Kaine.
