23:25   World now agrees with India on Pak-sponsored terror: Singh
Asserting that there is no need for evidence of Pakistan's complicity in the Kashmir issue as Nawaz Sharif is openly saying they will get it back, Union minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday claimed the world now agreed
with India that the time has come to unite in the fight against the neighbouring country.
"Now (Pakistani Prime Minister) Nawaz Sharif is openly saying we will get back Kashmir. They (Pak) are directly or indirectly claiming credit for (aiding and abetting) the ongoing insurgency and unrest. So, there is no need for any evidence now," he told reporters in Jammu.
The Union mnister of state, Prime Minister's Office was reacting to Sharif's remark on Friday that the day was not far when the struggle of the Kashmiris will meet with success and Jammu and Kashmir will be part of Pakistan.
Singh said, "The United Nations too has said that it (Kashmir) is India's internal matter. Now, the world has come to acknowledge India's point of view (on Kashmir) and it is time for us to be united in the fight (against Pakistan)."
He asserted that Pakistan's involvement in promoting terrorism in India has been evident on more than one occasion.
Responding to a question on Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Hafiz Saeed's claim that he had received a call from slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, Singh said it amounted to an "open confession" which the entire world should take note of.
The Union minister urged all the political parties to unite in the fight against Pak-sponsored terrorism.

President Tayyip Erdogan tightened his grip on Turkey on Saturday, ordering the closure of thousands of private schools, charities and other institutions in his first decree since imposing a state of emergency after the failed military coup.

Turkish authorities also detained a nephew of Fethullah Gulen, the U.S.-based Muslim cleric accused by Ankara of orchestrating the July 15 coup attempt, the Anadolu state news agency reported.

A restructuring of Turkey's once untouchable military also drew closer, with a planned meeting between Erdogan and the already purged top brass brought forward by several days.

The schools and other institutions are suspected by Turkish authorities of having links to Gulen, who has many followers in Turkey.

Gulen denies any involvement in the coup attempt in which at least 246 people were killed.

Turkey has detained a nephew of US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen after last week's failed coup, state-run media reported Saturday, the first time one of the his relatives has been apprehended in the current crackdown.

Erzurum is thought to be home to many Gulen supporters and members of his Hizmet movement, which Turkish authorities say was behind the bloody attempted power grab on July 15.
Gulen, the Pennsylvania-based arch-foe of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is accused of "masterminding" the putsch through his movement, a claim he strongly denies.
The nephew was detained in connection with the coup, which Turkey says was organised by the "Fethullah Terrorist Organisation", state-run news agency Anadolu reported.
Anadolu said he was also wanted over the leak of questions from 2010 civil service exams.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said any initiative that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may take to resolve the current crisis in the Valley could calm tempers but if it is not followed up then it becomes difficult to sort out.

He agreed with former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's views that the centre had broken promises on issues that formed the state's accession to India, saying they have been "dishonest with the people of Jammu and Kashmir".

"It will help. It will definitely calm tempers but there will be far more suspicion today than a few years ago. Because if it is not followed through, every time a problem like this arises, then it becomes more difficult to bring an end to it," he told Karan Thapar on India Today TV.

18:23   China removed missiles from SCS islands ahead of UN verdict
China had removed its new generation surface-to-air missiles from a disputed island in the South China Sea after the United States withdrew its aircraft carrier ahead of a landmark verdict by an UN-backed tribunal, a media report said.
The images from Airbus Defence and Space showed a battery of HQ-9 missiles was removed from Woody Island before the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague rejected Beijing's claims over the South China Sea, Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post quoted IHS Janes Defence magazine as reporting citing satellite images.
The HQ-9s have a range of 200 km and can intercept aircraft and incoming missiles.
The report said the missiles, which have been on Woody Island, the largest in the disputed Parcel Islands claimed by China and Vietnam in the South China Sea were probably shipped back to the mainland for maintenance by a Type 072A landing ship docked in the island's harbour.
The Post quoted Beijing-based naval expert Li Jie as saying the possible removal of the HQ-9s could be a response to the Pentagon's decision to withdraw its USS John C Stennis carrier from the South China Sea on July 5, showing both Beijing and Washington were keen to reduce the risk of military confrontation.
