Sedition charge against Kanhaiya Kumar may be dropped

The sedition charges against Jawaharlal Nehru University Student's Union President Kanhaiya Kumar may be dropped. According to sources in the home ministry, there is no evidence so far to back sedition charges against Kanhaiya.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had on Wednesday briefed the Prime Minister's Office on the JNU case. Bassi said that no clean chit has been given to Kanhaiya Kumar. He claimed that they had proof against the JNUSU president.

Kanhaiya has been arrested in a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy in connection with the alleged anti-national event inside the university premises and is in judicial custody till March 2, 2016.
