A fire in one of the hostel dormitories at Smolensk State Medical Academy in Russia on Sunday morning tragically cut short the lives of two Indian girls -- Pooja Kallur, 22, and Karishma Bhosale, 20, as they slept. Pooja, from Navi Mumbai, and Karishma, from Sahakar Nagar in Pune, were in their fourth year of studying medicine in Smolensk.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed the incident  and said arrangements were being made to bring the bodies back to Mumbai. "Their mortal remains will reach Moscow tomorrow. We will fly their mortal remains to Mumbai. Our heartfelt condolences," tweeted Swaraj.
