Delhi High Court dismisses plea seeking a NIA probe in the JNU sedition case, terming it as "premature". The HC said that the incident happened on February 9, so it "cannot assume that the Delhi Police is not investigating the incident".

The sedition case against JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar will not be investigated by the NIA even as protests over his arrest are set to intensify today with hundreds of teachers joining in.

Outside a court where Kanhaiya Kumar (pictured) was produced yesterday, several journalists were attacked. Media at the spot said policemen did nothing to stop the attackers. Journalists have now sought an appointment with Home Minister Rajnath Singh today.

Kanhaiya Kumar, 28, was arrested last week on charges of sedition for allegedly shouting anti-India slogans at an event in support of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged in 2013. He will remain in custody till Wednesday.
