A technical glitch in a signal at Bhivpuri led to delay in the running of local trains in Mumbai on Friday. Angry commuters protested at the Badlapur station after long delays were reported.

Tired of the local trains on Central Railway running behind its time every single day, angry commuters staged protest on Friday at the Badlapur station in Mumbai.

A huge mob of commuters gathered at the station and protested against the railway officials and stopped approaching trains by protesting on the train tracks.

Earlier, Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted, "GM DRM, officers directed early morning to help passengers in #Badlapur, sort out their problems. Requesting all not to agitate, all steps taken."The delay had occurred after a signal failure at Bhivpuri station which meant there was no train running for more than half an hour during the peak hours. Locals who were agitated by then, gathered together and protested on the train tracks.

@Central_Railway then tweeted saying, "Services on the Karjat-Ambernath route restored from 10.55 hrs."

The 11010 Pune-CST Sinhagad Express and the 12124 Pune-CST Deccan Queen were diverted via the Karjat-Panvel-Diva section due to the agitation. The 11301 CST-KSR Bengaluru Udyan Express, which was scheduled to depart at 8:05 am was rescheduled to leave instead at 11:25 am.
