Rio ambassador: Aishwarya supports Salman!

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is the middle of a controversy over his appointment as the Indian contingent's Goodwill Ambassador at the Rio Olympics, has received support from an unlikely quarter.

His former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Asked to comment on the appointment, the actress said, "Anybody who is doing good to represent the country and anybody who is working or seeking or standing out for whatever vocation we have in the country be it sports, arts or music, I think that's wonderful and needs to be recognised."

While another former girlfriend Katrina Kaif, quipped, "Salman ko leke controversy hai woh naya cheez hai kya?"
