West Bengal polls: 79% voting; violence claims one life

A Communist Party of India-Marxist supporter was killed and four other party workers were injured during the third phase of polling in 62 assembly seats in West Bengal where over 67 per cent turnout was recorded.

Heavy turnout of 70.55 per cent was recorded in 16 seats of Burdwan while Kolkata recorded 49.43 per cent votes till 3 pm. 

In 17 seats of Nadia, the turnout was 68.62 per cent and in 22 seats of Murshidabad the figure was 70.32 per cent.The overall average was 79.22 per cent, EC sources said.
