Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ireland on Wednesday on the first leg of his two-nation trip to Ireland and United States. After meeting with the Irish premier, Modi interacted with the Indian community in Fritzwilliam Hall, Dublin. Amidst chants of 'Modi, Modi, the PM said, "I will begin by apologising, I wish I had spent more time with you. I thank you for the warm welcome. I had a good meeting with Ireland's PM, we discussed a whole range of issues. I believe that the ties between India and Ireland should become stronger."

He later added that the love shown by the people had drawn him there and that Ireland and India are connected to each other in many ways
