PM leaves for 7-day tour of Ireland, US

PM Narendra Modi left this morning for his two-nation visit to Ireland and the United States.

"Working westward. PM @narendramodi departs on a 2 nation, 3 city visit to Ireland & the US, will address the @UN," tweeted External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

Modi will spend today in Ireland where he will hold discussions with Prime Minister Enda Kenny. He will depart for New York the same evening for the US leg of his tour.

"He has a very substantive program in NY for 2 days that he's here. In New York, PM is going to meet a number of people connected with financial, media,technology and manufacturing sector.

"1 of primary objectives of PM's visit to US is to get more foreign direct investment &make 'Make in India' a huge success," tweeted Swarup.

"I expect PM's visit to lay new benchmarks for our engagement with the United States," he added.

He will be in the US till September 29.
