Is Maria unwilling to monitor Sheena probe?

Former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria has not received written orders to monitor the Sheena murder probe. TV reports suggest that Maria may be unwilling to monitor the probe.

Last evening, the Maharashtra government said Maria would continue to head the Sheena Bora murder probe till investigations are completed. This came hours after the Devendra Fadnavis government yesterday transferred Maria as DG Home Guards and replaced him with Ahmed Javed as the Mumbai police commissioner.

The government said Maria will be the in charge till the chargesheet stage. Maharashtra Home Secretary KP Bakshi said, "Government has decided that Rakesh Maria will continue to head the investigation in Sheena Bora case. This was a normal transfer. It was wrongly interpreted in the media."
