Over a week after 52-year-old Mohammad Ikhlaq was lynched to death by a mob in Dadri's Bishada village, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday submitted a detailed report to the ministry of home affairs. The state government has refrained from mentioning any reason for Akhlaq's murder. Without mentioning the word "beef or cow slaughter", the report says that there were allegations that the deceased was killed for consuming "pratibandhit pashu ka maans" (meat of an animal, whose slaughter is banned).   In the two-page report, the government said that it was still investigating the incident  and yet to reach a conclusion.
