Navjot Singh Sidhu admitted to hospital after clot in deep vein

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi Tuesday evening with a clot in one of his deep veins, a condition called acute deep vein thrombosis.

According to a statement issued by Apollo hospital, Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi today evening with acute deep vein thrombosis. This is a life threatening condition if not treated on time.

In DVT, clots create obstruction in the blood vessel, hindering the normal blood flow. According to hospital sources, after initial treatment his condition is stable. Mr Sidhu has been put on blood thinners and has been recovering well. His condition is said to be stable as of now, the hospital said in its statement.

DVT is caused by a blood clot in a deep vein which hinders the normal blood flow. The symptoms may include swelling, pain, and tenderness, often in the legs.

Sidhu later tweeted saying, Down but Not Out! Life threatening disease (DVT) With God s Grace will recover. Life is Fragile, handle with Prayer.
