Sonia leaves for US on 'routine health visit' as Day 3 of Parl begins

Just in: Congress president Sonia Gandhi leaves for the US for what is being termed a 'routine health visit'. The Congress president has been making visits to the US for an unspecified health condition since 2011. Reports in 2011 said that Sonia Gandhi was advised by her doctors to go abroad for the surgery "because they felt she would convalesce better without the throng of visitors who would have clamoured to see her during the recovery." The inconvenience that her presence in a hospital would
have caused to other patients was another consideration, it added.

This is the third day of the winter session of Parliament with the opposition targetting the government on 'intolerance'.
