Ayub Khans ghost returns to haunt Pakistan

The five-day visit by Pakistani army chief General Raheel Sharif to the United States is becoming curioser and curioser. According to the Voice of America, Sharif's visit is not at the invitation of the American side. The Indian media went to town, mocking at the general for having for having "invited himself". But the truth lies somewhere in the middle -- Sharif left Pakistan fully confident that the Americans were eagerly awaiting him, and, in fact, en route he had a stopover at No. 10 Downing Street to meet Prime Minister David Cameron.  Read MK Bhadrakumar's blog here.
