A woman who survived the attack on La Belle Equipe restaurant in Paris on Friday because a friend jumped in front of her to intercept the bullets is so traumatised by the experience that she can hardly speak.

The Telegraph reports that Chloe Clement was at the restaurant on Rue de Charonne to celebrate a friends birthday when the gunmen burst in, killing 11 members of the party and shooting her in the arm.

One of them was Ludo Boumbas, a 40-year-old Fedex carrier of Congolese origin, who used himself as a human shield to protect her and was fatally shot.

Now recovering in hospital, Ms Clement is so affected by the attack that she simply lies in bed repeating Mr Boumbass name. Virgile Grunberg, the manager of Caf des Anges, where many people from the birthday celebration worked, went to visit Ms Clement in hospital and said she was deeply disturbed by the events of Friday night.

"She was on morphine and was in shock. She would barely speak.
"She felt guilty because Ludovic died for her. She just kept repeating his name again and again."

An unnamed friend told MailOnline: "Ludo threw himself forward to protect a girl and took the bullet. "She was also shot, but she survived and is in hospital. He loved travelling the world and above all he loved people. He was just one of life's good, good people. He didn't stand a chance."

Mr Boumbas and Ms Clement were at La Belle Equipe on Friday night to celebrate the 35th birthday of waitress Houda Saadi when the gunmen arrived and started spraying the cafe with bullets.

Ms Saadi, 35, and her sister Halima, 36, were among the 19 killed.
Ms Saadis brothers, Khaled and Bashir, also attended the celebration but were not hit. They rushed in vain to try to save their sisters as they lay in pools of blood on the floor.

These people kill Muslims, Khaled told reporters last night. "They killed anyone who was there." The majority of the victims at the caf were from the birthday celebrations.

Also among the victims was the Muslim wife of the Jewish bar owner, Grgory Reibenberg, 46. Djamila, 40, died in front of him.
