Par panel to submit environment report to PM

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests will submit a detailed report to the Prime Minister and concerned ministries regarding the concrete measures required to "preserve and rejuvenate" the fragile ecology of the region.

"The committee will submit a detailed report regarding these vital issues to the Prime Minister and to the concerned ministry so that concrete measures are taken to preserve and rejuvenate the fragile ecology of the region", Chairman Ashwani Kumar told reporters today.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee held a day long meeting with the officers, representatives of civil society and NGOs here today to deliberate upon core environmental issues.

Kumar said that directions have been issued to the concerned departments to submit detailed plans to cater to the futuristic needs of the people which will be taken up at the concerned quarters to ensure that bottlenecks are removed and feasible solutions are found.
