Work on Navi Mumbai airport by April next?

It will take another year for Cidco to select the final bidder for the ambitious Rs 15,000-crore Navi Mumbai International Airport as the RFQs submitted by them are still pending at the project management committee level.

"We have already shortlisted four bidders which are being scrutinised by the PMC. By next April, we will be able to select the final bidder," an official at Cidco, which is the nodal implementing agency for the proposed airport, told PTI here over the weekend.

Cidco had invited the global tenders for request for qualification (RFQ) on February 5, 2014. He said once the PMC completes the scrutiny, it will submit the report to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and then it will go to the Aviation Ministry.

"Once we get the clearance from the Ministry, we will invite financial bids and by April 2016 the bidder will be selected and work will start," the official said.

Earlier, Cidco had said it would invite financial bids or requests for proposal (RFPs) by August this year and the final bidder would be selected by October.
