Alive and well! Putin appears at meeting in St Petersburg after 10-day absence

Russia president Vladimir Putin makes an appearance with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Almazbek Atambayev, in front of plenty of journalists and television camera. That should at least quash rumours that he is either dead or seriously ill.

Putin has not been seen in public since March 5 -- over 10 days now. This absence -- largely unexplained -- set rumour mills into overdrive.
