Separatist leader Geelani meets Pak envoy to India

Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani met Pakistan envoy to India Abdul Basit on Monday.

This meeting comes hot on the heels of the controversial release of separatist leader Masarat Alam and the statement by newly sworn J&K CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed that the elections went smoothly because of the separatists.

According to sources, Geelani and Basit discussed political developments in J&K.

Opposition leader and Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said, "Govt must lodge its protest against this, such meetings cannot be allowed."

"The Pak High Commissioner came to me. We had a discussion on Indian Foreign Secretary's visit to Pakistan," Geelani said, while clarifying about the nature of the meeting.
