in Kerala, Congress-led UDF wins Aruvikkara by-poll

Just in: The Congress-led United Democratic Front has won the Aruvikkara assembly by-poll in Kerala.

K S Sabrinathan (Congress) of the UDF has won with a huge margin of 10,128 votes.

In Aruvikkara the UDF and opposition CPI-M-headed LDF were locked in a stiff contest.

Though 16 candidates were in the fray, the main contest was between Sabrinathan, M Vijayakumar (CPI-M) of LDF Opposition and O Rajgopal of the BJP.

An estimated 77.35 per cent voters had exercised their votes out of the total electorate of 1,84,210 on Saturday last.
