President rejects Yakub Memon's mercy plea

BREAKING: President Pranab Mukherjee has rejected the bail plea of 1993 Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon's mercy plea.

Earlier, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had called on the President to convey the government's view that the mercy petition be rejected. The meeting had lasted nearly 2 hours.

Memon's lawyers are likely to move the Supreme Court. The lawyers contend that President Pranab Mukherjee should not decide mercy plea overnight.
