'Maharashtra can proceed with measures to implement death warrant'
July 29, 2015  16:33
Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam says the Supreme Court has clearly held that the death warrant issued to Yakub Memon is legal and valid. Hence the state (Maharashtra) machinery can proceed on the basis of a death warrant.

The Supreme Court said today that it was not inclined to go into the issue of a second mercy plea made by Yakub Memon to the Maharashtra governor. The dismissal of Memon's curative petition by three senior most judges of the apex court was correct, the apex court ruled.

The SC said that it "does not find fault with the issuance of death warrant by TADA court."
