Court orders framing of charges against Madhu Koda, 8 others, in coal scam

A special court today ordered the framing of charges against former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and eight others in a coal scam case.

Former coal secretary H C Gupta and former Jharkhand chief secretary A K Basu were also ordered to be put on trial by the court.

The court has ordered the charges be framed under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating, and under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The court has fixed July 31 as the date for the formal framing of charges against the nine accused.
